I hope you are geared up to enjoy some downtime during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. I know that’s not the way it works for everyone, but we here at Black Public Media will be closed from 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23 until New Year’s Day. We’ll reopen on Monday, January 2, and look forward to charging into the exciting plans we have for 2023. More about that will be featured in the Jan. 2 Weekly Dispatch. The blog will not publish on Tues., Dec. 27.

For now, I just want to remind you that we’re hosting a virtual mixer this Thursday on our Topia party site. I hope you’ll make a point to stop by. It’ll be a great place to meet and greet friends from around the globe. And those who win our AfroPoP trivia game will be rewarded with in-demand merch from our BPM shop. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Register here.

On the website version of this post, you’ll find a list of some of the wonderful BPM-funded films that enjoyed broadcast and streaming premieres in 2022. Feel free to check ’em out while you’re chillin’ over the holidays. And as you’re watching, remember us in your year-end giving.

BPM also extends congratulations to Monica Land, Joy Davenport and the rest of the Fannie Lou Hamer’s America team for winning Best Feature Documentary or Mini-Series at this year’s International Documentary Association awards.

BPM remains committed to supporting Black stories and those makers who invest the time and energy required to bring them to the public. We also appreciate the funders and programmers who collaborate with us to ensure these projects get seen. You’re all part of BPM’s growing global family and we look forward to ongoing partnership as, together, we carry the legacy of our founders into the future.

Cheers!
